Marking 50 Years Since the Japanese Edition of The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Eric Carle is a picture book author who has been loved across generations for his vivid collage technique and heartwarming stories, with The Very Hungry Caterpillar as his signature work. 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the publication of the Japanese edition of the book. In this milestone year, the immersive event will be held in Japan ahead of the rest of the world.
Through video, spatial design and participatory content, the event expresses Eric Carle's distinctive use of color, his collage art, and themes such as nature, growth and creativity. It is designed to stimulate children's sensibilities, and adults can also immerse themselves in the colorful art world.
11 Immersive Areas Inspired by More Than 20 Works
The venue is planned to have 11 immersive areas inspired by more than 20 of Eric Carle's works. Picture books, color, collage, video, spatial design and interactive features are combined to present the appeal of the stories in a new way.
Eric Carle's rich colors and warm textures spread across the entire space, so visitors can feel as if they are walking through the pages of a picture book.
In addition to viewing the works, the venue offers participatory content in which visitors can walk, touch, play and make. It includes ideas meant to broaden children's curiosity and imagination, and is intended for parents and children as well as picture book fans.

Tickets
Tickets are on sale from Sunday, October 25, 2026 through various ticket agencies. In addition to general tickets, a "parent-and-child pair ticket" is available for parents and children to enjoy the event together. Tickets are planned to be sold through Asoview! - Children aged 2 and under can enter for free.
- Visitors who show a disability certificate (障がい者手帳) or a Ryoiku Techo (療育手帳) pay half the same-day price for themselves and one companion. Tickets must be purchased at the ticket window on the day.
- The parent-and-child pair ticket can be used by two people in total: one adult and one child (ages 3 to 12).

Notes
- When the venue is crowded, visitors may have to wait to enter after the entry start time on their ticket.
- Holders of regular advance tickets (weekends and holidays) who arrive outside their designated time can still enter, but cannot use the ticket as a Fast Pass.

- Preschool-age children cannot enter on their own. They must be accompanied by a guardian.
