Cushion brand EXGEL, from Kaji Co., Ltd. (株式会社 加地, headquartered in Shimane Prefecture), will open a new store on the Main Building 6th floor of Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The company has pursued the "quality of sitting" through its proprietary material EXGEL® and its research into seating* in the medical and nursing care industries.
With this move, EXGEL Seating Lab Fukuoka Mitsukoshi Lachic closed on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
* Seating here means selecting and adjusting equipment so that people who sit in chairs or wheelchairs for long periods can keep a good sitting posture.
At the relocated Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin store, visitors can try EXGEL's popular lineup, including the new Hug PS. The store also uses the seating pressure measurement service "Seating Navi®" (シーティングナビ®) to help each customer find the right sitting environment for them.
As long hours of desk work make "sitting fatigue" a social issue, the store aims to suggest comfortable sitting experiences and make time spent sitting more enjoyable.

New Product "Hug PS"
The new "Hug PS" is a chair cushion improved from the Hug Comfy series (ハグカンフィシリーズ), which customers have used for about 10 years. The shapes, materials, and structure of the backrest and seat were reviewed, aiming for both sitting comfort and a design that blends easily into interiors and everyday life.
1. A Design That Wraps Around the Pelvis from Both the Backrest and Seat
The shapes of the backrest and seat were revised from the previous model to make the cushion wrap around the body more.
The backrest supports the ilium and lower lumbar vertebrae, while the seat supports the sacrum and ischial bones. Combining the two into one piece lets the cushion hold the pelvic area from both the back and the seat, for a shape that is comfortable to sit in. The backrest is slightly low, which also takes into account the sense of support when moving while seated.
A non-slip finish on the underside means it can simply be placed on a chair you already own. It can be used in offices, for working from home, in living rooms, and in other settings.
2. Supported Across a Wide Surface by the Proprietary EXGEL® Material
EXGEL® is placed over a wide area of the backrest and seat, so pressure on the body is spread across the surface instead of concentrating in one spot. The gel also follows the small movements that occur while sitting, supporting a comfortable sitting experience even over long periods.
3. Quality Upholstery in 11 Colors
The cover uses Ultrasuede® HP from Toray Industries, Inc. This artificial leather combines a soft feel like natural suede with durability. The cushion comes in 11 colors that can be chosen to suit your interior or taste. The material feels cool in summer and warm in winter, so it can be used all year round, and it is also durable and easy to maintain.
