Two new milk-based products are set to arrive at FamilyMart stores across Japan on March 17, 2026 (Tuesday): the "Spring Delicious Strawberry Milk" chilled cup drink and the "Domestic Milk Ice Bar." Both products are available at approximately 16,400 FamilyMart locations nationwide as part of an initiative to boost milk consumption during the spring break period.
Supporting Dairy Farmers During Spring Break
Milk consumption tends to decline in winter and spring due to colder temperatures, the year-end holidays, and the suspension of school lunches during winter and spring breaks. To help prevent milk waste and maintain dairy production and supply, Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has been encouraging increased milk intake. FamilyMart has been on board with milk-consumption initiatives since 2024, previously releasing a "Winter Delicious Milk Coffee" in December 2025. The new spring lineup builds on that effort in partnership with the government-private joint "Gyunyu de Smile Project" (Milk for Smiles Project) co-launched by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Japan Dairy Council (J-milk).
Spring Delicious Strawberry Milk

The "Spring Delicious Strawberry Milk" is a chilled cup beverage priced at 184 yen (198 yen tax included). It uses 50% raw milk along with strawberry juice from Tochigi Prefecture, with a hint of Hokkaido heavy cream blended in for added richness. The sweetness is kept moderate to let the natural flavors of strawberry and milk shine through. The packaging features a cute cow illustration and the Meito x Nippon Ale logo — Nippon Ale being a JA Zennoh brand with the concept of "sending cheers to Japanese produce from all 47 prefectures across the country."
