The "2026 Spring Hida no Aji Matsuri" (Hida Taste Festival) is scheduled for Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7 at the Exchange Plaza of Hida Takayama Machino Taiken Koryu-kan (Hida Takayama Town Experience Exchange Hall) in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture.
Held twice a year—in spring and autumn—in central Takayama, the Hida no Aji Matsuri is a well-established local event that has been running since 1986. The festival showcases and sells food products produced in the Hida region, with the goals of promoting "Hida flavors" to a wider audience, expanding their market reach, and strengthening ties among the three Hida cities (Takayama, Hida City, and Gero City) and Shirakawa Village. This year's edition marks the event's 41st year and 76th occurrence.
Among the highlights this time around are popular favorites such as Hida beef skewers, mitarashi dango, keichan don, Hida beef offal, and local Hida sake—a lineup packed with beloved Hida specialties.
Special guest vendors will also be on hand: grilled mackerel sushi from Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture (a sister city of Takayama City), and trout sushi from Uozu City, Toyama Prefecture.
On Sunday, June 7, the historic Sanmachi-dori street will also host the "Garakuta Ichi" antique market, making it a great opportunity to explore Takayama's old town neighborhood.
