Fat Witch New York Shimogamo (Kyoto), the Kyoto outpost of the New York-born brownie specialty shop, reached its 10th anniversary on June 11, 2026. To mark the milestone, the store has unveiled a revamped version of its signature Kyoto-exclusive "Hannari" set, a new gift-wrapping service, and a limited anniversary set — blending Kyoto's spirit of hospitality with the shop's playful New York roots.
Renewed "Hannari" Set
The Hannari set, sold exclusively at the Shimogamo location, has been given a fresh look. Brownie labels now feature a vibrant Japanese pattern inspired by maiko kimono, and a decorative band recalling a noshi (ceremonial paper ornament) wraps around the box — making it an elegant option as a Kyoto souvenir or gift.
The lineup has also been restructured. Each box now holds four brownies — two Kyoto-exclusive flavors alongside two classic New York flavors — and comes in three color-coded varieties: Red ("朱"), Green ("緑"), and Blue ("青").

New Wrapping Service "Musubi" Launching Soon

A new wrapping option called "Musubi" will offer purchases wrapped in a large, Kyoto-designed furoshiki-style cloth. The fabric features the Kyoto skyline and Japanese patterns in a red-and-green color palette. Beyond its use as gift wrapping, the cloth can be tied to a bag handle or used as an everyday handkerchief.

Brownie edges — formed along the sides of the baking pan — are known for their crumbly texture and toasted flavor. This anniversary set pairs the Kyoto-exclusive yuzu-flavored edge with another popular variety, presented in a traditional furoshiki wrapping. It is offered for this period only as a thank-you for 10 years of support.
