Gran Foresta Villa Nikko, a private dog villa resort in the Nikko area of Tochigi Prefecture, is celebrating its first year of operation with a special anniversary campaign. The resort — which features private dog runs up to 1,000 m² per cottage, the largest in the Kanto region — has announced a range of limited perks to thank its guests.

About Gran Foresta Villa Nikko
Located in the historic and nature-rich Nikko area — home to Nikko Toshogu and other World Heritage sites — Gran Foresta Villa Nikko is a dog-first resort with just six private villas. Each cottage is exclusively booked for one party, offering an enclosed, fenced private space where guests and their dogs can relax freely.
The resort is easily accessible from Tokyo and designed for those who want to enjoy the clear mountain air of Nikko alongside their pets.
Anniversary Campaign: Three Highlights
I. Original Logo Treats Tin as a Gift
Guests staying during the anniversary campaign period will receive an original branded treats tin as a gift. The limited-edition tin, bearing the resort's logo, is a compact container designed to carry dog treats on the go — a souvenir that doubles as a keepsake from the trip. The contents are a surprise to be discovered upon check-in.

II. Three Anniversary Stay Plans Now Available
Three limited-period stay plans have been released as part of the anniversary celebration:
Plan 1: 20% Off Special Rate with a Dog Souvenir

A straightforward value plan offering 20% off the regular rate. Guests also receive a small dog souvenir on departure. Ideal for those looking to enjoy a relaxing private stay in Nikko's nature at a special price.
Plan 2: Handmade Dog Dinner Gift + Chef's Gourmet Course

This plan pairs a chef-crafted dinner for guests with a handmade meal prepared for their dogs. The human menu highlights local Tochigi ingredients such as Tochigi Wagyu, Nasunogahara beef, and Nikko yuba (tofu skin), offering a taste of the region's food culture alongside the forest setting.
Plan 3: Multi-Night Stay with Flexible 3-Meal Options

Designed for guests who want to linger, this multi-night plan allows guests to freely choose dinner, breakfast, and lunch from the resort's extensive menu during their stay. With a wide variety of dishes available, even extended stays offer a different flavor at every meal.
III. Welcome Treat Marche for Dogs
On arrival, dogs are greeted with a welcome treat selection. Guests can choose their dog's favorites from an assortment of snacks and take them in a dedicated container back to the room — handy for rest breaks after play time in the dog run.

Other Services
Free Dog Pool Rental (until end of September)
A private dog-only pool is available for complimentary rental during the spring and summer season, through the end of September. Guests can let their dogs splash around in a natural setting — a popular option for those wanting to give their pet a refreshing outdoor experience. The pool is bookable as an optional add-on with any stay plan.
Highlights of the Resort
Private Dog Runs Up to 1,000 m² — Largest in the Kanto Region
Each of the six villas comes with its own fenced dog run area, ranging up to 1,000 m². Dogs of all breeds and sizes can run freely without a leash in their private outdoor space.

All-Weather Indoor Dog Run
Alongside the outdoor run, each villa also features a covered all-weather dog run — so guests can enjoy outdoor play regardless of rain or summer heat.
73 m² Private Rooms
The spacious rooms, at 73 m² each, allow dogs to roam off-leash indoors as well. The comfortable interiors are designed with both owners and pets in mind.

In-Room Bath with a Dog Tub
Each villa has a private bathroom with a dedicated tub for dogs, so guests can bathe their pets right in the room. A full selection of bath amenities is provided.
Local Tochigi Cuisine
The resort's kitchen makes the most of seasonal local produce, with a menu that spans BBQ in the open air and hot-pot meals enjoyed indoors. From Tochigi Wagyu to Nikko yuba, the food program highlights the region's best ingredients.

Shared Semi-Outdoor Dog Run (Available Before Check-in)
A shared semi-outdoor dog run is also available for all overnight guests, and can be used from before the official check-in time, giving dogs a chance to stretch after the drive before heading to the villa.
Dog-Friendly Welcome Services and Inclusive Drinks
The resort offers a range of dog-friendly welcome touches. Guests are also welcome to use the front-desk drink server at no extra charge throughout their stay. A selection of local sake and beverages is available for purchase as well.
Renovation Notice
Gran Foresta Villa Nikko is currently renovating its turf areas, scheduled to run from late April through late June 2026. The existing private dog runs will be refreshed and updated during this period. The resort notes that guest comfort will be maintained throughout the works, and the completed runs will offer an improved landscape and environment.
