Häagen-Dazs Japan has launched a new mini cup series called ROCKY CRUNCHY! (ロッキークランチーーー！), now available in two limited-edition flavors: Strawberry Black Cocoa and Salty Honey Butter. Both went on sale nationwide starting March 10, 2026.
Inspired by the growing popularity of satisfying crunch sounds through ASMR culture, the ROCKY CRUNCHY! series is built around a "hard crunch" texture that goes beyond the typical crispness found in other ice cream products. The toppings — specially developed hard cookies and biscuits — took around six months of repeated testing to achieve their distinctive firmness. A special coating process keeps the toppings crisp and crunchy even after time in the container.
The packaging takes a departure from the classic Häagen-Dazs aesthetic, leaning into an American-inspired design.
Strawberry Black Cocoa
The Strawberry Black Cocoa flavor pairs a creamy strawberry ice cream — swirled with strawberry sauce — with a pale pink strawberry coating and oversized hard black cocoa cookies on top. The bitter edge of the dark cocoa cookies plays off the sweet-tart strawberry base, while the visual contrast between the black cookies and the pink coating adds an eye-catching touch.
