From Wednesday, August 5 to Tuesday, August 25, Hankyu Umeda Main Store's 10th-floor Umeda Souq "Ito-ya" is hosting "Enjoy!! Décopatch 2026 SUMMER." Alongside a lineup of items and live demonstrations of décopatch, a French paper craft, the event includes a workshop where visitors can easily try it for themselves. Simply tearing thin paper and pasting it down lets anyone create their own original art piece, making it a hands-on event perfect for summer-vacation memories.
Décopatch: France's Magical Paper Craft
Simply tearing thin paper and pasting it on with special glue is enough to create a vividly colorful art piece. Beyond being just a hobby craft, part of its appeal is that it lets people remake everyday items to their own taste and keep enjoying them for a long time — practicing ecology through a stylish "French style of recycling."
Make Your Own "Osuwari Monkey": A No-Reservation Craft Workshop Decorated with a Variety of Colorful Papers

On Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9, a workshop will be held with Yuki Sakamoto, an official Décopatch-certified instructor, as the teacher. Using the endearing, seated "Osuwari Monkey" as the motif, participants choose their favorite pattern from a wide variety of papers to decorate it in bright colors. No advance reservation is required, so visitors can join anytime between shopping. No special skills or tools are needed, and small children can take part together with a parent or guardian. Families can enjoy a special time building creativity and the sense of accomplishment that comes from making something with their own hands.
