A new gathering place for locals and travelers alike is taking shape inside Mitsutoge Station in Nishikatsura, Yamanashi. HARIO (headquartered in Chuo, Tokyo) is sponsoring coffee equipment, tea equipment, and glassware for "Meets to get," a community space inside the Fujikyuko Line's Mitsutoge Station that is set to open as a café on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The space is run by a member of the local community revitalization corps, and the planned menu includes coffee, black tea, hojicha, and matcha latte. Through its equipment sponsorship, HARIO is supporting the growth of a spot where residents, hikers, and tourists can casually stop by and experience Nishikatsura's water, nature, and the warmth of its people.
Nishikatsura is a town of about 3,800 people in Minamitsuru District, Yamanashi Prefecture, roughly an hour and a half from the Tokyo area. Blessed with views of Mt. Fuji, waterways running through town, and abundant water resources, the town's character comes through in its everyday scenery. Mitsutoge Station has long served as a gateway for visitors heading up Mt. Mitsutoge or exploring the surrounding sights, and this café renewal aims to add another reason to enjoy time at the station while giving locals and visitors an easy reason to stop by.
The café is run by Mr. Matsuda, who has served on the Nishikatsura community revitalization corps since November 2025. Introduced to the town by a friend, he was drawn to the views of Mt. Fuji, the waterways flowing through town, and the quality of the local water. "Through a single drink, I hope to create a memorable place where people feel Nishikatsura's blessing of water and the warmth of its people, and want to come back again," he says. From the everyday setting of a train station, he hopes to share the town's charm with everyone who passes through.
HARIO has long supported richer everyday moments through tools for brewing coffee and tea. Resonating with how "Meets to get" hopes to convey Nishikatsura's water, nature, and connections between people through a single drink, HARIO sponsored coffee equipment, tea equipment, and glassware for the space, aiming for the tools themselves to spark conversation and enrich the time visitors spend there.
Looking ahead, plans extend beyond serving drinks to include a booth promoting local attractions, picture-book readings for children, workshops, and an outdoor market in front of the station. The area in front of Mitsutoge Station is expected to grow into a new gateway for Nishikatsura — a place where people gather, spend time, and connect with the region.
