Oshino Shinobi no Sato Reopens Its Karakuri Yashiki on November 7 With a Ninjutsu Experience Theme, Ninja Photo Spots, and a Cipher Hunt

The Karakuri Yashiki (からくり屋敷) inside Oshino Shinobi no Sato (忍野 しのびの里), a ninja theme village in Oshino Village, Minamitsuru District, Yamanashi Prefecture, reopens on Saturday, November 7, 2026 as "Karakuri Yashiki: The Ninjutsu Experience" (からくり屋敷~忍術体験の巻~). The house is an infiltration experience where visitors make their way through hidden mechanisms and trials, and it has long been enjoyed by guests of all ages.

Spread out at the foot of Mt. Fuji, Oshino Shinobi no Sato lets visitors immerse themselves in the world of ninja through ninja shows, ninjutsu experiences, athletics, and the Karakuri Yashiki. The renewal adds photo spots where visitors can be photographed performing ninja techniques, along with an "infiltration mission" to find a cipher hidden inside the house. As an opening campaign, elementary school students and younger who find the cipher and answer correctly receive a limited-edition renewal sticker.

What's New in the Karakuri Yashiki

Ninja Photo Spots

The partitions inside the house have been rearranged to create a photo area themed around ninjutsu training. Spots let visitors strike poses such as catching a blade between the palms (真剣白刃取り), shadow clones (影分身), and running across a rooftop. Visitors who put on a ninja costume can try out different poses and take photos with family and friends.

Infiltration Mission: Find the Cipher

The final room of the house is a newly built trick room rotated 90 degrees, with the floor and ceiling turned on their sides. Here, visitors take on a mission to find a cipher hidden by an evil magistrate (悪代官), and they can take photos as well. The cipher can then be passed on to a ninja elsewhere in the park, so the experience continues beyond the house.

Find the Cipher, Get a Renewal Sticker

Visitors who find the cipher and answer correctly receive a limited-edition sticker commemorating the renewal. The idea is to find the cipher hidden in the Karakuri Yashiki and tell it to a ninja outside.

  • The sticker is available until Monday, November 30, 2026.
  • Only elementary school students and younger are eligible.

The Ninja Training Experience Across the Park

Oshino Shinobi no Sato treats the whole park as a ninja training school, with a flow of gaining knowledge, moving the body, and finally taking on a real test.

Ninja performers in action on stage

Beginner (Knowledge): Ninja Show

The ninja performance group Raifujin (靁凮刄, らいふうじん) presents an authentic ninja show. These modern-day ninja, active around the world, show off powerful performances built on the physical ability they develop through daily training. Watching ninja techniques and demeanor up close and learning ninja wisdom useful for the training and infiltration mission ahead is the first step into the world of ninja.

Intermediate (Experience): Athletics and Ninjutsu Dojo

On the athletic course "Ninjutsu Kaiden no Michi" (忍術皆伝の道), visitors take on 12 items, including つたい壁 (Tsutai-kabe), 鳴子地獄 (Naruko Jigoku), and からくり迷路 (Karakuri Maze). At the ninjutsu dojo, visitors train with a ninja teacher in skills such as shuriken and ninja swords. They get a feel for the agility and concentration ninja need, test the knowledge they gained by watching, and build up strength for the advanced stage.

Advanced (Application): Karakuri Yashiki

The final stage is infiltrating the Karakuri Yashiki and working through its mechanisms and trials toward the last room. Visitors put the knowledge from the show and the strength gained in training to use as they search for the hidden cipher, and they aim to complete the mission together with their companions.
