The 1F Cake & Bakery Shop at Hotel Metropolitan (Nishi-Ikebukuro 1-6-1, Toshima-ku) is bringing back its popular Mother's Day cake, "Sweet Topiary," for 2026. Pre-orders open on Monday, April 6, 2026.
Inspired by the decorative art of "topiary" — the technique of sculpting plants or artificial flowers into three-dimensional spherical forms — the cake makes an elegant alternative to the traditional Mother's Day carnation gift. Strawberries, melon, and other popular fruits are sandwiched with the hotel's lightly sweetened cream chantilly and shaped into a dome cake. The cake is sized for 2 to 3 people and is offered in a quantity-limited run.

"Sweet Topiary" Cake Details
The seasonal limited cake returns for 2026 with the same fruit and cream combination that was well received last year.
Mother's Day Cake "Sweet Topiary" — ¥4,000
Size: 13 cm diameter
A finely textured sponge soaked in kirsch syrup is layered with rich Hokkaido-produced fresh cream and blended into a smooth, flavorful cream chantilly. Strawberries and melon are generously sandwiched inside. The top is decorated with edible flowers, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and papaya, finished with a ribbon-shaped chocolate. The exterior is coated with chocolate-spray cream to create the topiary-inspired, lively domed design.
