Hotel New Otani Makuhari is opening its outdoor pool Shell Pool for a limited summer season from July 18 (Saturday) to September 22 (Tuesday, holiday), 2026. Alongside the pool, the adjacent Garden Restaurant "Shell the Garden" will also be in operation.
This year's night pool introduces a new theme — combining the signature pink aesthetic with a vibrant touch of gold. From fan-favorite menu items to brand-new dishes debuting this summer, the lineup promises a season full of photogenic food and refreshing drinks.
New Theme "PINK & GOLD": The Iconic Burger Gets a Golden Upgrade
The beloved pink-themed food lineup, which has drawn strong support from younger visitors since its 2024 launch, returns this summer. Leading the charge is the "Pink×Pink" Smash Cheese Burger — a striking visual treat featuring beet-infused pink buns, two juicy beef patties, fresh tomatoes, frill lettuce, and a house-made pink mayonnaise. The combination of hotel-quality craftsmanship and an irresistibly photogenic presentation continues to make it a standout item.
This summer also sees the debut of a new dish that embodies the "GOLD" element of the theme: the "Toro~ri Cheese" (Melty Cheese) Pink Twin Burger. The voluminous pink burger is served on a sizzling iron plate covered in a generous pour of golden, rich cheese sauce. Diners can enjoy it solo or share it with friends — either way, dipping each bite into the "gold cheese pool" is all part of the experience.
Poolside Sweets & Drinks to Brighten Your Summer
A new dessert also makes its debut this summer: the Pink Malasada W Strawberry. The assorted plate includes four pieces across two varieties — a light malasada dusted with strawberry powder, and one coated in glossy strawberry chocolate. Easy to share with friends or family, it brings a sweet-tart accent to a relaxing afternoon by the pool.
A new original drink, the "Pink Float Sparkling," has also been added to the lineup. Inspired by the pink pool floats available for rent at Shell Pool, the drink is a playful miniaturized homage to the iconic poolside accessory.
Whether shot against the sparkling daytime water or the dreamy glow of the illuminated night pool, the pink food and drinks are designed to look photogenic no matter when you take your picture. Pairing the drink with poolside pink food or the actual pink float makes for great photos.
The "Colorful Penguin Drinks" series features adorable penguin-shaped bottles, evoking a world where penguins are vacationing at Hotel New Otani Makuhari. Three flavors are available: "Sunset," a tropical ginger ale inspired by a fantastical evening sky; "Marine Blue," a Calpis-based drink with a refreshing salt-lemon soda evoking the Chiba coastline; and "Pink Pool," a smooth strawberry milk flavor tied to the hotel's iconic night pool.
Kids Menu for the Whole Family
A kids plate is also available for younger guests. Served in a whimsical dinosaur-shaped bowl, it comes with the hotel's original curry, a hamburger patty, and karaage (Japanese fried chicken) — all popular among children. A mini pudding à la mode is included for dessert, along with an orange juice.
