Hotel Tokaien (Nishiura-cho, Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture), a hotel offering 360-degree panoramic views of Mikawa Bay, is holding "Rainy Season Weeks" from June 1 to June 30, 2026. The month-long event celebrates Japan's rainy season and centers on a collaboration with Katahara Onsen's Ajisai no Sato (Hydrangea Village), combining a special night tour with a seasonal ajisai-themed kaiseki dinner course.

Night Tour to Katahara Onsen's Ajisai no Sato

Katahara Onsen's Ajisai no Sato is widely regarded as one of the finest hydrangea viewing spots in the Tokai region, with approximately 50,000 hydrangea plants in bloom each June. During the Ajisai Festival (June 1–30), the grounds are lit up at night for a striking evening display, and visitors may also spot the glowing flight of Genji fireflies.

"Iro" Ajisai Kaiseki Dinner

The dinner served during Rainy Season Weeks is a special course called the "Iro" (彩, meaning "color") Ajisai Kaiseki, which weaves in the seasonal beauty of hydrangeas from starter through to dessert. One of the standout dishes is "hikizuri nabe," a Mikawa chicken hot pot cooked on an iron plate modeled after the region's Sanshuu ceramic tiles — one of the most popular menu items. The course also features hydrangea-motif desserts crafted with Mikawa's regional ingredients.

Guests can order from the hotel's original "Iro" cocktail series — featuring hues inspired by hydrangeas — alongside snacks, mini pizza, and half-ramen with special char siu from local butcher Torikura (available at an extra charge).
