Iwaki's First Cosplay Tourism Event Set for March 7

Iwaki City's Taira district will host its first "Cosplay x Tourism" event on March 7, 2026. The "1st Taira Cos another #TairaCosAnother" event brings together two local hospitality businesses to offer cosplayers unique photo opportunities in the area.

The event is a collaboration between Iwaki Washington Hotel and Iwaki Yumoto Onsen Ryokan Koito. Ryokan Koito has been developing "Cosplay x Tourism" initiatives in the Iwaki Yumoto area, and this expansion aims to spread the concept throughout Iwaki City.

Event Locations and Features

Participants will have access to diverse shooting locations showcasing Taira district's character. The hotel's chapel and Japanese shrine offer distinctive settings, while the surrounding streets retain the atmosphere of a historic castle town. These varied backdrops provide opportunities for different photoshoot styles compared to traditional hot spring town settings.

The event continues into the evening with a standing reception-style after party in the hotel's banquet hall. The program includes a "CosPerfo" stage where participants can perform dances and other acts in costume. The hotel's executive chef will prepare dishes featuring local Iwaki ingredients, accompanied by beverages.

Following the after party, a special night photography session will open the chapel exclusively for party attendees and hotel guests, allowing participants to capture atmospheric evening shots.

Event Information

The event includes special campaigns for social media followers and accommodation packages with early check-in and late checkout options for participants.
