"Tsurugajo Castle Projection Mapping 2026," produced by Hitohata, comes to Tsurugajo Castle Park in Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima Prefecture, from November 20 (Friday) to November 22 (Sunday), 2026.

The keep and stone walls of Tsurugajo Castle, a historic castle renowned for its beauty, become the canvas for digital animation inspired by Aizu traditional crafts such as Aizu-nuri lacquerware, Aizu e-rosoku candles, and Aizu-momen cotton, alongside landscape art depicting Aizu and vivid digital floral art evoking the area's famed cherry blossoms.

A sea-of-clouds effect is added alongside the projection mapping this year, wrapping the castle in mist for a fantastical nighttime scene.

Admission is free and no advance registration is required. Last year's "Tsurugajo Castle Projection Mapping 2025" drew approximately 20,000 visitors over three days, and this year's edition has been expanded in response to that reception.

Visiting Tips

  • Please use caution when walking around the venue after dark.
  • When taking photos or videos, flash photography, drone photography, and using a tripod for extended periods in the front row during busy times are discouraged. Continuous burst-shutter sounds can disturb nearby visitors, so please limit burst shooting when it's crowded or use a silent shutter mode. Since the visuals move quickly, video is recommended for smartphone users.
  • If using a tripod, keep the camera at or below head height regardless of where you're viewing from (this does not apply to official event photographers), and avoid stepladders or other equipment that doesn't rest on the ground.
