Jagashi-ya, a dagashi (traditional Japanese candy) shop inspired by Showa-era retro aesthetics, has opened at Jankara's Osaka Umeda location. This is the second Jagashi-ya store, following the first at Jankara's Kyoto Kawaramachi branch.
The concept was sparked by a second-year female employee who said, "I bet this kind of shop would be really fun." Her idea gained traction within the company and grew into a full new business venture.
Inside, customers choose from three bag sizes — small, medium, or large — and fill them with their favorite dagashi snacks. The experience is designed to bring back that feeling of excitement that comes with picking out your own treats.

A gacha machine is also set up in-store, with each turn costing ¥500 and offering the chance to win dagashi assortments worth up to ¥5,000. The shop stocks a wide range of classic dagashi that many grew up with, including nostalgic lucky-draw items and candy with scratch cards.
The shop aims to be a space where adults can relive childhood memories and children can discover the joy of "choosing, packing, and winning" all in one place.

A Spot That Keeps on Changing
Beyond selling dagashi, Jagashi-ya plans to offer weekend family-friendly events and seasonal tie-ins, aiming to become a casual drop-in destination for students, tourists, and local families alike.
