About the TV Anime Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen is a hit comic by Gege Akutami that depicts the battle between curses born from human negative emotions and the jujutsu sorcerers who exorcise them with jujutsu. Serialization began in March 2018 in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, and the story reached its conclusion in September 2024 after six and a half years. Worldwide series circulation of the comics has surpassed 150 million copies (including digital editions). From September 2025, Jujutsu Kaisen ≡ (Modulo), a near-future spin-off with original story by Gege Akutami and art by Yuji Iwasaki, ran as a short-term intensive serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump.
The TV anime began airing on MBS/TBS stations in 2020, and the second season, "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" and "Shibuya Incident," aired in 2023, drawing major attention in Japan and around the world. In 2025, a series of theatrical releases traced the world of Jujutsu Kaisen in chronological order: Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death, a theatrical compilation film, in May; a revival screening of Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie, which recorded a worldwide box office of ¥26.5 billion, in October; and in November, Jujutsu Kaisen the Movie: Shibuya Incident Special Edit × Culling Game Advance Screening, which specially edited "Shibuya Incident" and connected it with episodes 1 and 2 of TV anime Season 3 "Culling Game Part 1." Season 3 began airing on MBS/TBS stations in January 2026, in which the Culling Game, a deadly contest among those who wield jujutsu, orchestrated by Kenjaku, finally begins. Production of Season 4, "Culling Game Part 2," has also been confirmed.
