Kawagoe Prince Hotel (located at 1-22 Shintomicho, Kawagoe City, Saitama) will offer a new summer stay plan called "Koedo Summer Journey — An Evening Stroll Through Kawagoe by Rickshaw" from July 1 (Wed) to September 6 (Sun), 2026. The plan is designed for travelers who want to avoid the daytime heat and discover a different side of Little Edo Kawagoe after dark.

An Exclusive Night Rickshaw Experience
At the heart of the plan is a nighttime rickshaw tour — a hotel-guest-only experience that is not normally available at night. The approximately 90-minute tour departs from the hotel's main entrance at 7:00 PM and winds through the illuminated kura-zukuri (traditional storehouse-style) streets and the atmospheric lanes of central Kawagoe. Along the way, guests stop at Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine, where around 2,000 Edo wind chimes hang throughout the grounds during the summer "Enmusubi Furin" event — now in its 13th year — filling the air with cool, delicate sounds.
The rickshaw route runs as follows:
Hotel (7:00 PM) → Kumano Shrine → Taisho Romando Yume-dori → Kura no Machi → Benten Yokocho → Hikawa Shrine (guided stop) → Toki no Kane → Okashi Yokocho → Kura no Machi → Resona Koedo Terrace (8:30 PM)

Finishing the Evening at Resona Koedo Terrace
The tour concludes at Resona Koedo Terrace, a renovated landmark built inside the former Saitama Resona Bank Kawagoe branch — a nationally registered tangible cultural property — that has become one of Kawagoe's newest highlights. At the rooftop bar "Bar Azzurri," guests can settle into terrace seats overlooking the historic storehouse streets and enjoy an exclusive snack set featuring "Bushu Unagi Fish & Chips," paired with a drink such as Coedo craft beer or Togewama craft gin from Saitama prefecture.

The Bushu Unagi used in the dish comes from the only eel aquaculture operation in Saitama prefecture, run by Kawagoe-based Bushu Gas. The eels are raised using a pioneering technology — the first in Japan to use artificial seawater for producing glass eels — and are sourced live from Higashimatsuyama City before being expertly prepared on-site.
Plan Background
With roughly 90% of Kawagoe's visitors being day-trippers, the hotel developed this plan in collaboration with local businesses to offer an experience only possible for overnight guests — the quieter, more atmospheric side of Kawagoe that emerges after the crowds have gone. The stillness of the kura-zukuri streets, the Toki no Kane bell tower in the evening hush, and the glow of the illuminated town create a very different impression from the daytime bustle.
