Ahead of the completion of the tunnel on the "Shitte-Kurokawa Line" city planning road currently under construction in Kawasaki's Asao Ward, a tour of the tunnel's interior — normally off-limits during construction — will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, along with hands-on events making use of the tunnel space.
The mountain tunnel connected with the west-side cut-and-cover tunnel on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, and finishing work on the tunnel's lining is now underway. At the tour, visitors will be able to see this construction work up close. The hands-on events will include a 3x3 soccer experience inside the tunnel, a game of tag played across an obstacle course inspired by parkour movements (parkour: a form of movement, born in France, that involves efficiently getting past surrounding obstacles), and a chance to make and light your own sparkler under the guidance of a fireworks craftsman — activities the whole family can enjoy.

There is no parking at or around the venue, so please use public transportation. The venue is about a 10-minute walk from the north exit of Kakio Station on the Odakyu Odawara Line.
Tunnel Interior Tour (No Registration Required)
A video explaining the Shitte-Kurokawa Line Phase IV project and the tunnel construction will be shown, along with a "quiz rally" that visitors can enjoy while walking through the tunnel.
Through exhibits and explanatory panels, visitors can learn — in an easy, quiz-based format — about the purpose and progress of the construction and the machinery used, offering a rare look behind the scenes of building a road.

3x3 Football
A 9m x 16m small-sided 3-on-3 soccer experience run by the 3x3FOOTBALL Federation, a general incorporated association, which proved popular last time. Matches last three minutes with a first-to-2-points-and-stay-on format, open to anyone from elementary school age and up. On the day, candidates for Japan's national 3x3 football team will appear — a chance to ask them directly about dribbling and shooting tips, their everyday training methods, and anything else you've been curious about.
Open to participants of elementary school age and up.
Freestyle Football
A performance sport that combines footwork and ball juggling with acrobatic moves using a soccer ball. It can be enjoyed regardless of age or experience, offering a new kind of ball performance that captures both the fun of sport and the joy of self-expression.
Parkour Tag
A new sport played one-on-one across an obstacle course that incorporates parkour movements, in which players compete over a 20-second span to catch their opponent (or avoid being caught). It's an "ultimate game of tag" that anyone can join, combining physical development with fun.
A One-of-a-Kind Sparkler-Making Experience (Participation fee: 300 yen for a set of two)
Under the guidance of a fireworks craftsman, visitors can try making their own sparkler, then light it inside the special setting of the under-construction tunnel. Why not create a summer memory in a space that's normally off-limits?

The company works to share the appeal of Japan's traditional 和火 fireworks, offering people of all ages a chance to enjoy Japanese traditional culture through 和火 fireworks and sparkler-making experiences.
Food & Drink Corner
On the day of the tour, a food and drink corner will be set up inside the tunnel venue, selling hot dogs, ice cream, drinks, and more. Some stalls also plan to sell local craft beer for those aged 20 and over.
Alcohol will not be sold to anyone under 20, and age verification may be required at the time of purchase.
Drunk driving is prohibited by law, so alcohol cannot be sold to those arriving by car or bicycle.
Offerings are subject to change and sales will end once stock runs out.
Pecora Beer
A craft brewery based in Kawasaki's Asao Ward, brewed by the brewery's own representative, who holds a beer judge certification, focusing mainly on clean, bold American-style beers with reduced astringency.
kitdog
Operating a food truck within Kawasaki City, kitdog mainly sells hot dogs and also plans to offer pudding, ice cream, and drinks.
Lemonade & Organic Vegetables
Lemonade made with organic lemons will be sold, along with cucumbers and other produce perfect for the hot season.

Traffic Safety
On the day, the Asao Police Station will hold a police motorcycle display and sit-on-the-motorcycle experience, along with a traffic safety campaign (10:00 AM to 12:00 PM only).
About the Shitte-Kurokawa Line Tunnel Project
The Shitte-Kurokawa Line is an approximately 23-kilometer road connecting Ogura in Saiwai Ward to Kurokawa in Asao Ward, first designated as a city planning road in 1946. Construction is currently underway on the Phase IV section, with tunnel work taking place over about 290 meters west of the Katahira 2-chome intersection.
The mountain tunnel, on which work began on Friday, February 14, 2025, connected with the cut-and-cover tunnel being built to the west on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Finishing lining work is now underway inside the mountain tunnel, while work on a box-shaped concrete structure continues in the cut-and-cover tunnel. Once the roughly 680-meter Phase IV section is complete, the entire approximately 23-kilometer Shitte-Kurokawa Line will be finished.
