Kawasaki Noh Theater Marks 40th Anniversary with 138th Regular Noh Performance by Tessen-kai in July 2026

The 138th Kawasaki Regular Noh Performance, presented by the Kanze School's Tessen-kai, will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026 (National Holiday) at Kawasaki Noh Theater (1-37 Nisshin-cho, Kawasaki-ku, Kawasaki, Kanagawa).

Kawasaki Noh Theater reached its 40th anniversary in 2026. Under this year's theme "Tsunagu Koe" (Connecting Voices), the 2026 season explores the spirit of Noh—prayers and feelings passed down through the ages, transcending both time and the boundary between life and death.

The July performance features Tessen-kai of the Kanze school. Part 1 presents the Noh play "Tenko," which portrays the mystical power residing in a celestial drum, while Part 2 showcases "Kokaji," drawn from the legend of master swordsmith Sanjō Munechika.

  • Shimai: "Hanshōtō" — Keigo Tanimoto (Tessen-kai)
