Kenbishi Shuzo is expanding the lineup of its Kuromatsu series flagship sake, Gokujo Kuromatsu Kenbishi (極上黒松剣菱), with a new 300ml bottle size. Previously sold only in the traditional 1.8-liter isshobin format, the sake will now be available in a smaller size suited for home use and refrigerator storage. Shipping begins June 1, 2026, making this the brewery's first new product in 13 years (excluding certain limited releases).
About Gokujo Kuromatsu Kenbishi
Gokujo Kuromatsu Kenbishi is brewed using the traditional Itami-ryu (伊丹流) method that has defined Kenbishi's character for generations. The sake delivers a deep, layered flavor — soft sweetness and umami from the rice spread gradually, finishing with a clean sharpness that is distinctly Kenbishi. Rich yet never tiring on the palate, it carries a depth associated with sake craftsmanship that has been passed down since the Edo period.
Kenbishi has long been known as a sake for warming (kan), but Gokujo is one expression that holds its character even when served cold. In summer, it works well as chilled sake (reishu) or as a base for sake highball (炭酸割), where its subtle sweetness and clean umami come through refreshingly.

The 300ml size fits neatly in the fridge, making it easy to keep on hand for everyday occasions. Beyond traditional Japanese cuisine, it pairs well with cheese and prosciutto, offering a versatile drinking experience.
