Kisoji, the nationwide chain known for shabu-shabu and Japanese cuisine, is welcoming the arrival of matsutake season with its "Matsutake and Wagyu Fair," running at stores across the country from Thursday, August 20, 2026, for a limited time.
Every autumn, Kisoji's matsutake-centered menu returns to loyal fans who look forward to the season's signature mushroom. This year's lineup pairs the fragrant matsutake with kuroge wagyu selected to Kisoji's own standards, for a rich taste of the harvest season.
One highlight is Kisoji's fresh matsutake, prized for the fragrance that only fresh mushrooms deliver. The Matsutake Gozen course lets diners enjoy matsutake dobin mushi and matsutake rice in a single meal, while the Matsutake and Kuroge Wagyu Steak brings the mushroom's aroma together with the rich flavor of kuroge wagyu on one plate.
The dishes are built around the natural flavor and aroma of the ingredients, adding a festive touch to time spent with family and friends.
Beyond the limited-time menu, the Matsutake Kago-mori basket can be added to a regular order of shabu-shabu or sukiyaki, bringing the mushroom's fragrance to a familiar hot pot for a seasonal touch.
For those eager to enjoy matsutake as soon as it's in season, the fair offers an early taste of autumn at Kisoji restaurants nationwide.
