The Kuboso Memorial Museum of Arts, Izumi (Izumi, Osaka) hosts the special exhibition "Ocean View/Yokosuka Story—From the Collection of Yokosuka Museum of Art—" from October 25 (Sun) to December 25 (Fri), 2026.
A Collection Exhibition Born From a Tie With Yokosuka Museum of Art
The exhibition presents works from the collection of Yokosuka Museum of Art. The two museums signed a disaster prevention agreement in fiscal 2024, prompted by the fact that both cities have Self-Defense Forces garrisons.
Yokosuka Museum of Art stands at Kannonzaki on the Miura Peninsula, overlooking Tokyo Bay, in a place closely tied to the sea. Izumi, where the Kuboso Memorial Museum of Arts is located, does not face the sea.
Yokosuka, a "city with the sea," and Izumi, a "city without the sea." The exhibition connects these two museums in different places through artworks. Through Yokosuka Museum of Art's diverse collection, visitors can explore the many worlds of art that grow out of the theme of the sea.

About Yokosuka Museum of Art
Yokosuka Museum of Art opened in 2007 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Yokosuka's municipal status. It is located on the Tokyo Bay side of the Miura Peninsula, with Tokyo Bay spreading out in front of it.
Its collection is built around works by artists connected with Yokosuka and the Miura Peninsula, works depicting Yokosuka and the Miura Peninsula, modern and contemporary Japanese art, and works on the theme of the sea.
This exhibition brings the collection of a museum nurtured in a place overlooking the sea to Izumi, a city that does not face the sea. Visitors can enjoy the works while thinking about the differences between the two places.
