Starting May 15, 2026 (Friday), KURAMAE CANNELÉ — the freshly baked canelé specialty shop in Kuramae, Tokyo — will offer two limited-edition financiers at its Kuramae main store and Ecute Ueno branch inside JR Ueno Station. The "Rum Raisin Financier" and "Rich Vanilla Financier" will be available through late June while supplies last.

KURAMAE CANNELÉ is a takeout counter specializing in freshly baked canelés made in an on-site workshop. Following strong demand, a dedicated freshly baked canelé shop opened at Ecute Ueno in December 2024.

Two Aroma-Focused Financiers
Both new items are crafted around fragrance, with each variety showcasing a distinct character through carefully selected ingredients.
Rum Raisin Financier — A Rich, Grown-Up Treat
The Rum Raisin Financier layers the aromas of rum, raisins, and butter for a deep, adult-oriented flavor. The distinctive sweet, full-bodied scent of rum and the concentrated sweetness of raisins come together, delivering a rich fragrance from the very first bite.
Rum-soaked raisins are incorporated into the batter, and rum is also brushed onto the surface after baking, creating a cohesive aroma throughout. Each element is delicately balanced so that no single note overpowers the others.
It can be enjoyed at room temperature or lightly warmed, with the rich fragrance coming through in either case.
Note: This product contains alcohol. Not recommended for children, those sensitive to alcohol, pregnant or nursing individuals, or anyone operating a vehicle. Occasional firmness in raisins may occur due to natural variation.
Rich Vanilla Financier — Layers of Vanilla
The Rich Vanilla Financier highlights vanilla as the star ingredient, delivering a gentle sweetness with a milky, lingering finish. The subtle richness of fermented butter weaves through and enhances the overall aroma.
Three types of vanilla are used — vanilla paste, Madagascar vanilla beans, and vanilla oil — resulting in a multidimensional, layered fragrance. The vanilla pods are also rubbed into the sugar to draw out a more natural and nuanced aroma.
At room temperature, the delicate scent can be savored as-is; lightly warming the financier intensifies the fragrance and brings out a harmonious blend with the butter.
