A new private villa complex, Lakeside villa SUI HAKUBA (レイクサイドヴィラ・スイ・ハクバ), opens on May 28, 2026, situated on the shores of Lake Aoki in Omachi City, Nagano Prefecture. The facility consists of three entirely private villas, each facing the lake and surrounded by untouched natural scenery at the foot of the North Alps.
Lake Aoki is one of the "Shinano Sanko" (Three Lakes of Shinano) and is known for its exceptional water clarity throughout the year, fed by natural springs rising from the lake bed. The surrounding forest remains largely undisturbed, offering a quietly immersive natural environment. The Hakuba resort area is only about a 15-minute drive away.
The name "SUI" was inspired by the shimmering of the lake surface under sunlight and the spring water welling up from the lake bed, which evoke the image of jade (翡翠) — a gift of the North Alps.
About the Facility
A-Frame Villas with Triangular Roofs and Expansive Windows

Each of the three villas is an entirely private, whole-building rental set within a quiet property surrounded by cherry trees and other greenery — all facing the lake. The distinctive A-frame design features a triangular roofline, with 55 m² on the first floor, 28 m² on the second floor, and an outdoor terrace of approximately 20 m². The first floor contains a living and dining area with a kitchen, while the second floor has two bedrooms. Each villa also includes an outdoor terrace and a private sauna.
The interiors make extensive use of natural materials, and the lakeside wall features large windows characteristic of the A-frame structure — creating a sense of openness that connects guests to the outdoors even from inside.

Living and Dining: A Space Where the Lake View Gently Blends In

The living and dining area is an open, airy space where soft light streams in through large glass windows. A sunken pit living area encourages guests to naturally gather and relax together. Both air conditioning and underfloor air conditioning are provided for year-round comfort.
The living and dining area serves as the heart of the stay at Lakeside villa SUI HAKUBA — a place to start the morning slowly with coffee by the lakeside windows, and to wind down in the evening after a day out on the lake or in the Hakuba area.
Kitchen: Freedom to Design Your Own Dining Experience

The kitchen is equipped with an IH cooktop, refrigerator, microwave oven, electric kettle, Nespresso machine, cookware, tableware, cutlery, and glasses. Guests can cook with locally sourced ingredients, set up breakfast at their own pace, or combine their stay with optional catering. Having a full kitchen gives guests the flexibility to shape their dining experience around their own style.
Bedrooms: Time Together and Time Apart

Two twin bedrooms are located on the second floor. One room features large windows with views over Lake Aoki's surface, the mountain ridgelines, and changing skies. The other has the cozy feel of an attic space, enveloped in the warmth and fragrance of solid wood. The layout makes it easy for families, friend groups, or two families to share the villa as a whole while still having private space at bedtime.
Private Sauna: Relaxing with a View Through the Living Room

Each villa includes a private sauna with löyly (water-on-stones steam) function, comfortably seating four people. The sauna is adjacent to the living room, making it easy to use any time regardless of weather or season. Through the sauna's window, guests can see the view beyond the living room and enjoy the natural surroundings of Lake Aoki while unwinding mind and body.
After activities such as SUP, canoeing, or cycling, guests can return to the villa, use the sauna, and then cool down on the terrace while enjoying the lakeside breeze.
Bathroom and Sanitary Space: Refreshing with a Touch of Natural Warmth

The sanitary space has a warm, wood-accented aesthetic. It includes a bathtub for a full soak and a vanity with two sinks. Toilets are located on both the first and second floors. Amenities such as towels, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, a toothbrush set, and a hair dryer are all provided.
Entrance and Earthen Floor: A Functional Space for Active Guests

The entrance features a generous earthen floor (土間) area that can be used to dry ski boots and snow boots, or for bicycle maintenance. A washer-dryer, laundry detergent, and hangers are also available — convenient for managing clothing during multi-night stays after outdoor activities such as SUP, canoeing, cycling, or skiing.
Terrace: A Place to Do Nothing but Enjoy the Lake

Each villa has an approximately 20 m² terrace. Surrounded by cherry trees and other greenery, the space forms a gentle transition between the interior and the natural surroundings of the lake — ideal for a morning coffee, reading, cooling down after the sauna, or watching the evening light fade over the water.
Activities: Four Seasons on Crystal-Clear Lake Aoki, 15 Minutes from Hakuba

Lake Aoki sits just about 15 minutes by car from the popular Hakuba resort area, yet retains beautiful untouched nature and a tranquil atmosphere. From spring through autumn, the area offers activities including SUP, canoeing, cycling, trekking, and walking. In winter, ski and snowboard enthusiasts can easily access the nearby Hakuba ski resorts.
The villa is designed to accommodate both active outdoor enjoyment and relaxed downtime — playing on the lake, using the sauna, feeling the breeze on the terrace, and sleeping surrounded by the warmth of wood.
