WASUKI BASE Biwako VILLA STYLE is a cottage and glamping facility nestled beside the shores of Lake Biwa in Makino, Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture. The property consists of three cottages and two dome-style glamping units, each with a dedicated BBQ space for families and groups. The gentle sound of waves along the lakeshore creates a relaxing atmosphere throughout the stay, and the facility is conveniently located within walking distance of Makino Station.

1. Spectacular Lakefront Location

WASUKI BASE Biwako VILLA STYLE sits directly along the Lake Biwa shoreline, offering panoramic views of the lake that shift throughout the day from sunrise to sunset. About a 5-minute walk from the property, Makino Sunny Beach has been selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Bathing Beaches. The calm, clear freshwater makes it an ideal spot for water play with young children, canoeing, and leisurely walks along the shore.
2. Great Base for Lake Activities and Local Sightseeing

Beyond swimming, the lake also accommodates activities such as stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). The wider Makino area is home to scenic natural attractions as well. The Metasequoia Avenue — lined with metasequoia trees that offer distinct seasonal views — is located about 7 minutes by car or 15 minutes by bicycle from the property, making it a popular destination for drives, cycling, and walks throughout the year.
3. Flexible Accommodation for Various Group Sizes

Accommodation options include large and medium-sized cottages for 1 to 15 guests, and dome-style glamping tents designed around the seasonal imagery of the Metasequoia Avenue, accommodating up to 5 guests per tent. Whole-site exclusive rental for groups of up to 45 people is also available, making the facility suitable for private stays, family trips, group outings, and even corporate events.
4. Dining Experiences from BBQ to Seasonal Hot Pot

The hands-free BBQ option features carefully selected ingredients including Shiga beef and marinated chicken. During the colder months, guests can also enjoy hot pot dishes featuring Shiga beef and the rare Omi duck. A breakfast set with freshly baked bread is available as an optional add-on. Guests who prefer to bring their own ingredients are welcome to use the dedicated BBQ spaces at each unit.
5. Dog-Friendly Facilities

The facility welcomes guests traveling with dogs. An on-site dog run gives pets plenty of space to move freely. Complimentary amenities including food bowls and paw-cleaning sheets are provided, and pet costume rentals are also available for guests looking to make their stay a more memorable experience.
