February 2nd is Crêpe Day! Enjoy Crêpes Suzette at L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon - Celebrating the French Tradition of Candlemas, Welcoming Spring

L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon (located in Roppongi Hills), operated by Four Seas Corporation (Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo; Chairperson & CEO: Sachiko Asano), will celebrate the French spring tradition of Candlemas as "Crêpe Day" by offering "Crêpes Suzette, Flambéed with Grand Marnier and Served with Madagascar Vanilla Ice Cream" for one week only starting February 2nd (Monday), 2026.

What is Crêpe Day "Candlemas"?

In France, there is a custom of eating crêpes with family and friends on February 2nd, a day called "Candlemas." Candlemas, also known as the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple, commemorates the day when Jesus, at 40 days old, visited the temple with the Virgin Mary.

There are various theories about why crêpes became associated with this day. One popular explanation is that the round, yellow crêpe, resembling the sun, became a symbol marking the end of the cold, harsh winter. In recent years, Candlemas has become beloved as a day to celebrate the arrival of spring.

Crêpes Suzette

To commemorate Crêpe Day, L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon presents "Crêpes Suzette, Flambéed with Grand Marnier and Served with Madagascar Vanilla Ice Cream." Each crêpe is individually prepared, heated with butter and orange juice sauce, then finished by flambéing with Grand Marnier orange liqueur. Guests can enjoy the spectacular aroma that rises when the pastry chef flambés the dish in the open kitchen. This sublime dessert features the delightful contrast between warm crêpes and cold Madagascar vanilla ice cream.

The dish can be selected as a dessert option with the lunch and dinner prix fixe courses. Please enjoy this special offering.
