Saitama Prefecture, the Saitama Prefectural Sewerage Public Corporation, and the Sewerage Promotion Platform (GKP) are teaming up to help residents learn more about and take an interest in sewerage systems with the Manhole Summit in Arakawa / Sewerage Festa 2026.
The event marks the first joint edition of two gatherings: the annual Arakawa Sewerage Festa and the Manhole Summit, a nationwide event that showcases the appeal of sewage infrastructure through manhole covers.
Alongside festa favorites like the Sewerage Facility Exploration Walk Rally, the venue will feature summit-exclusive programming, including relay talks by "manholers" (manhole enthusiasts), a display of manhole covers from across the prefecture, an exhibition of every type of manhole card, and a manhole card game tournament.
An "Aozora Parent-and-Child Class," hosted by Saitama Sewerage Ambassador and weather forecaster Mito Tanaka, will also take place, letting both adults and children learn about the role of sewage systems while having fun.
