Minami Cherry Blossom and Canola Flower Festival: Heralding Spring on the Izu Peninsula

Cherry blossoms and canola flowers along the river

Spring arrives early once again in Minami-Izu, surrounded by mountains, rivers, and sea. Gently coloring the banks of the Aono River are approximately 800 Minami cherry trees (Kawazu cherry blossoms) swaying in the spring breeze, alongside a vibrant carpet of canola flowers. The landscape of soft pink and vivid yellow transforms visitors into the colors of spring. Unlike the bustling cherry blossom festivals at other tourist destinations, the Minami Cherry Blossom and Canola Flower Festival offers the charm of enjoying the arrival of spring in a calm, relaxed atmosphere.

Together with the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival held simultaneously in Kawazu Town, it is beloved as a "spring tradition" that announces the arrival of spring on the Izu Peninsula.

Period: February 1st (Sunday) to March 10th (Tuesday), 2026
