Minami-Koshigaya Rakuun, a commercial complex home to numerous restaurants and popular tenants, is holding a range of events to coincide with the Minami-Koshigaya Awa Odori festival taking place on August 22 (Saturday) and 23 (Sunday), 2026.
This year's lineup is packed with attractions unique to Rakuun, including up to 16 food trucks, an "Ice Cream Championship" pitting regional ice creams from around the country against each other, and a "Shaved Ice Lab" where guests mix juices to create their own original shaved ice.
It's a two-day-only summer event to enjoy alongside the Awa Odori dance festival.

On the ground-level parking lot on the first floor of the parking building, shaved ice food trucks perfect for summer gather together. Each truck brings its own distinctive take on shaved ice, and trying a few side by side to find a favorite is a great way to enjoy them.
Karaage, Corn Dogs, Takoyaki, and More: Savory Food Trucks Too
Rakuun tenants including 鶏そば藍, Gyoza no Ohsho, and Ministop will also sell food outdoors, and food trucks will gather exclusively for the Minami-Koshigaya Awa Odori as well. Expect signature truck menus perfect for a summer festival, from karaage (Japanese fried chicken) and corn dogs to takoyaki.
"Asakusa Maguro-gumi" x "Aoi Tenka": A Dream Collaboration of Tuna and Shizuoka Sake
Asakusa Maguro-gumi, known for its tuna-cutting performances, brings its food truck to the event, selling tuna dishes and motsu-ni (stewed offal) — a rare sight at a summer festival.
This time also brings a collaboration with Enshu Yamanaka Shuzo, a sake brewery in Kakegawa, Shizuoka, offering the Shizuoka local sake "Aoi Tenka Damonde" for sale.

This year, an entry representing South Korea joins the lineup too.
It's not just about selling ice cream.
Visitors get to vote for their favorite, deciding Minami-Koshigaya Rakuun's "No. 1 regional ice cream."
A sale event celebrating the winning ice cream is planned for a later date.

Juice Turns Into Shaved Ice? Get Hands-On at the "Shaved Ice Lab"!
This summer, shaved ice becomes a science project.
At the "Shaved Ice Lab," guests combine two types of juice to create their own original shaved ice.
There are two ways to enjoy it.
1. The "Experiment Course," where a capsule toy machine decides the flavor
Turn the capsule toy machine twice, and the two juices that come out are mixed together.
What comes out is entirely up to luck!
Those two juices are then combined and poured straight over shaved ice.
2. The "Original Course," where guests choose their own favorite flavors
Guests can also choose their own two favorite juices to research their ideal combination.
In total, there are 28 possible combinations!
The color can look strange... but the taste is surprisingly good!?
