Highlights
More Than 25 Songs by Michael Jackson
The show features more than 25 of Michael Jackson's signature songs, including "Beat It," "Smooth Criminal," "Man in the Mirror," and "Thriller." Created with innovative storytelling, energetic performances, and respect for Michael Jackson, one of the most influential entertainers of all time, MJ continues to captivate the hearts and imaginations of audiences in packed theaters around the world.
Inside Michael Jackson's Creative Process
The story is set in 1992 and depicts the behind-the-scenes work that led to Michael Jackson's iconic "Dangerous World Tour." It looks not only at the dancing and hit songs that captivated the world, but also at the creativity that elevated him to legendary status and his creative process with his collaborators.
The story unfolds from the perspective of an MTV journalist who is granted special access to the rehearsals. With a script by two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage ("Ruined," "Sweat"), the show portrays a part of Michael Jackson's complex life through his efforts to pour all of his creativity into the "Dangerous World Tour."
Four Tony Awards and an Olivier Award
The production has earned high praise around the world for its innovative choreography and stage expression. At the Tony Awards, regarded as the pinnacle of theater, it won four awards, including Best Choreography for director and choreographer Christopher Wheeldon OBE. In London's West End, Wheeldon also won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Theatre Choreographer, and the show is acclaimed around the world as one of the leading musicals of today.
