Features of the Nintendo Switch 2 Version of Monster Hunter Wilds

Local Wireless Multiplayer Supported — Hunt Anytime, Anywhere

Play anytime, anywhere in handheld mode — connect to a TV, and an expansive world opens up.

The game supports local wireless multiplayer, letting up to four players bring their Nintendo Switch 2 consoles together to play. Internet play also supports cross-play, so hunters can enjoy the hunt together across platforms.

Even in single-player, sending up a distress signal during a quest calls in a "Support Hunter" — an NPC who helps fellow players or lends a hand on the hunt.

*A Nintendo Switch Online membership (paid) is required to enjoy multiplayer over the internet.

All of Wilds' Update Content Included*

Mizutsune, Seregios, Lagiacrus, Gogmazios, and Omega Planetes — which appeared through a special collaboration with Final Fantasy XIV — are among the monsters included from Wilds' update content, all bundled in*. Nearly all event quests* are included as well. Look forward to the seasonal events regularly held at the bustling Gathering Hub, where many hunters come together.

*Scheduled to include all update content that has been released on other platforms as of December 4, 2026 (Friday). Event quests and similar content that involve tallying results or distributing rewards will only be available for a limited time.

About Monster Hunter Wilds

Players take on the role of hunters investigating the "Forbidden Lands," facing off against mighty monsters amid a vast, two-sided nature.

A Living World and a Landscape That Transforms

A world of shifting, ever-changing climates. Adapting to their environment, a wide variety of creatures form an ecosystem, and people, too, build their culture and daily lives as part of that same world.

The vast fields hold two contrasting faces: a harsh "desolate period," when starving carnivorous monsters gather and fight over territory, and, following "extreme weather" events, a "bountiful period" overflowing with rich life. Each field has its own environment and its own way of changing, and when extreme weather strikes, the powerful monster that reigns atop that ecosystem may reveal itself.

Story

A tale of humanity and nature, centered on the boy Nata and the "White Lone Shadow"

A few years ago, at the border of the "Forbidden Lands" — an unexplored region the Guild had never surveyed — a boy named Nata was taken into protection. Using clues from his account of having fled alone from an attack by a mysterious monster, the Guild formed a survey team. The journey now begins for the hunters of this survey team, tasked with investigating the monster known as the "White Lone Shadow" and rescuing the clan of guardians that was attacked.

A Cast of Characters Full of Personality

Alongside Palico companions, many characters who support a hunter's life on the hunt make an appearance.

The survey team forms several small units to venture into unexplored lands, each made up of a hunter, a chronicler, a weapon-and-armor craftsperson, and a Palico. Seikret mounts, which lend support in various situations such as crossing fields or escaping danger during a hunt, also become dependable companions. The protagonist hunter belongs to the "Bird" unit, setting out alongside the mysterious boy Nata to investigate the monster known as the "White Lone Shadow."

Numerous Monsters Roam the Forbidden Lands

A wide variety of monsters inhabit the world of this game. Monsters adapt to their environment, and hunters may sometimes encounter them acting in packs. Each ecosystem, too, has its own apex predator standing at the top.

Arkveld

The monster the survey team calls the "White Lone Shadow," distinguished by wings with a unique, chain-like form. It is recognized as an extinct species, and its ecology remains shrouded in mystery.

Rey Dau

A Flying Wyvern that reigns atop the ecosystem of the Windward Plains. It has adapted to sandstorms accompanied by large-scale lightning strikes, and most sightings occur during that same kind of weather. Its electrical discharge attacks, amplified by a strong electrostatic ability, are extremely dangerous.

Uth Duna

A Leviathan that reigns atop the ecosystem of the Scarlet Forest. Adapted to an environment rich in water sources, it is most often sighted during periods of heavy downpour. It mixes a substance secreted from its body with water, forming a veil-like layer that covers its body.

Nu Udra

A Cephalopod that reigns atop the ecosystem of the Oilwell Basin. It is normally seen with its entire body coated in oily mud, but when agitated, it ignites that coating, transforming into a form wrapped in raging flame.

Jin Dahaad

A Leviathan that reigns atop the ecosystem of the Iceshard Cliffs. Boasting an enormous frame, it generates extreme cold through cooling organs located across its body, using the frost it forms on its limbs to move across walls and floating rocks, as well as in powerful attacks of its own.

Evolved Hunting Action

While hunting a monster, "Wounds" can form and "Weak Points" become exposed. Using "Focus Mode" makes wounds and weak points glow red, making them easier to target, and a "Focus Strike" — a follow-up attack launched from the Focus Mode stance — landed on a wound or weak point can deal major damage or stagger the monster. Hunters can choose from 14 distinct weapon types, each offering its own unique actions and combos.

In addition, the massive add-on content Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is also planned for release on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. Stay tuned for more information.
