mt ex Minomachi 2026 Brings Installations, Limited-Edition Tapes, and a Stamp Rally to Mino, Gifu, October 9 to 21

From October 9 (Fri) to October 21 (Wed), 2026, the town of Mino in Gifu Prefecture hosts "mt ex Minomachi 2026," a large-scale event that visitors enjoy by walking around town. The event is organized by Kamoi Kakoshi Co., Ltd., maker of the stationery and general-goods masking tape "mt masking tape."

It is the third mt event in Mino, following "mt ex at MINO-WASHI Museum" in 2016 and "mt art project" in 2020. Combining Mino, a town of washi (Japanese paper), with mt, the masking tape made from washi, the event offers installation exhibits as well as event-exclusive masking tapes and a variety of products made with Mino washi.

The main visual that decorates the area around the venues during the event is designed around the drawings for the "tape-shaped andon (paper lantern)" installation displayed at the venue.

During the same period, the "Mino Washi Akari Art Exhibition" (美濃和紙あかりアート展) is held in the "Udatsu no Agaru Machinami" (うだつの上がる町並み) townscape, where the tradition of Mino washi and the atmosphere of the Edo era remain. Akari (light) works made of Mino washi, gathered from across the country, illuminate the historic streets in a dreamlike way at this light art event that has been enjoyed by many visitors every year.

By day, mt. By night, akari art. Visitors can stroll through Mino and take in the town's expressions at this time of year, where the historic streetscape, the culture of Mino washi, and contemporary design come together, along with encounters with mt.

Highlight 1: Historic Mino Streets Meet mt

At "mt ex Minomachi 2026," mt collaborates with three venues, NAE Mino, Matsuhisa Eisuke Paper Shop Bantodai, and 洗翠庵. Set in buildings that carry the history and culture of Mino, each space blends the world of mt into a shop space or an installation. The charm of the historic buildings combines with mt's colors and designs to create a setting unique to these venues, and the experience of mt differs from place to place as visitors walk around the town.

In September 2026, the venue was rebranded from "NIPPONIA Mino Shokamachi" (NIPPONIA美濃商家町). It aims to be a place where guests can feel the culture, the daily life, and the encounters that have been handed down in the town of Mino through their stay. The name "NAE" reflects a wish to "twist together" (綯え) travelers and the community, the hotel and the town, and sightseeing and everyday life, creating new connections.

The "Bantodai" is the former sales counter that remains at Matsuhisa Eisuke Paper Shop (松久永助紙店), a long-established Mino washi wholesaler founded in 1876 (Meiji 9). Together with the building that has been handed down since the shop's founding, it conveys the history of a shop that has walked alongside Mino washi for a long time.

[Installation venue] 洗翠庵

This is a villa built in the early Taisho era by the second-generation Matsuhisa Eisuke (二代目松久永助), founder of Matsuhisa Eisuke Paper Shop. Eisuke loved the tea ceremony, and the villa is known as a place where he held tea gatherings regularly and enjoyed exchanges with business associates and local people. It continues to be handed down as a place where visitors can feel the history of Matsuhisa Eisuke Paper Shop and the culture of Mino.

Haruya's Kani Chip

A limited-time collaboration between "Kani Chip," a local snack popular as a souvenir, and mt has been realized. The cute crab illustration on the package has become a masking tape, which makes a good travel keepsake together with the snack.

The lineup includes stationery and sundries made with Mino washi, such as ippitsusen (short-note letter paper), calendars, and ring notebooks, as well as lanterns and lantern kits that visitors assemble themselves, offering items that bring washi into daily life. Combining traditional Mino washi with mt's designs and ideas, the selection lets visitors rediscover the warm appeal of washi.

Highlight 6: Popular Event-Exclusive Activities

Activities that have been well received at mt events around the country are also available at the Mino venues, including a masking tape gacha, a tape grab, and an all-you-can-pack activity, which families and groups can enjoy together.

The workshop is held at NAE Mino, while the mt tape grab and the mt gacha are held at Matsuhisa Eisuke Paper Shop Bantodai.
