Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition GIFU Opens November 6 at Gifu City Museum of History, With ¥200 Discounts for Kimono Wearers and JAF Coupons

Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition GIFU will be held at Gifu City Museum of History (岐阜市歴史博物館) from November 6 (Friday), 2026 to January 11 (Monday, holiday), 2027. Two discount campaigns for day-of admission have also been announced: one for visitors who come in Japanese clothing such as a kimono, and one for visitors who show a JAF app coupon. The exhibition is produced by Hitohata, Inc. (一旗).

The Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition is an immersive digital art museum where visitors can step into the world of ukiyo-e inside three-dimensional projection spaces. Based on more than 300 works by world-renowned ukiyo-e artists, including Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Utagawa Hiroshige, Kitagawa Utamaro, Toshusai Sharaku, and Utagawa Kunisada, the exhibition uses 3DCG animation and projection mapping to present graphical digital art that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike.

The Gifu edition goes beyond exploring the artistic value of ukiyo-e. It features venue-original content in which ukiyo-e depicting Nobunaga and ukai (cormorant fishing) spring into motion, along with an exhibit that explains Gifu's ukiyo-e in an easy-to-understand way. It is a limited-time immersive exhibition where masterpieces that have captivated the world across the ages move dynamically.
