Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition GIFU Opens November 6 With Sanrio Characters Goods on Sale at the Venue Shop

Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition GIFU opens on Friday, November 6, 2026, and runs through Monday, January 11, 2027 (a national holiday), at Gifu City Museum of History (岐阜市歴史博物館). It is an immersive digital art museum where visitors can step into the world of ukiyo-e. A selection of goods to be sold at the venue shop has been revealed ahead of the opening.

The Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition is based on more than 300 works by world-renowned ukiyo-e artists, including Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Utagawa Hiroshige, Kitagawa Utamaro, Toshusai Sharaku, and Utagawa Kunisada. Using 3DCG animation and projection mapping, it presents graphical digital art that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike, across multiple areas of three-dimensional projection space.

The exhibition has previously been held in Nagoya, Milan (Italy), Kagoshima, Tokyo, Taipei (Taiwan), Fukuoka, Kaohsiung (Taiwan), Osaka, Aomori, Hiroshima, and Paris (France), welcoming more than 700,000 visitors in total. The Gifu edition will feature original content on Nobunaga and ukai (cormorant fishing) that is available only at this venue.
