A collaboration between Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition GIFU (動き出す浮世絵展 GIFU) and Gifu Park and Gifu Castle Rakuichi (岐阜公園・岐阜城楽市) has been announced, along with the collaboration products. The exhibition will be held from November 6 (Friday), 2026 to January 11 (Monday, holiday), 2027 in the 1st-floor Special Exhibition Room of Gifu City Museum of History (岐阜市歴史博物館). It is produced by Hitohata, Inc. (株式会社一旗) and organized by the Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition GIFU Executive Committee (Gifu City, Gifu Shimbun, Gifu Broadcasting, Hitohata, and TV Aichi).
The Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition is an experiential digital art museum where visitors can step into the world of ukiyo-e inside three-dimensional projection spaces. Based on more than 300 works by world-renowned ukiyo-e artists, including Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Utagawa Hiroshige, Kitagawa Utamaro, Toshusai Sharaku, and Utagawa Kunisada, the exhibition uses 3DCG animation and projection mapping to present graphical digital art that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike.
The Gifu edition goes beyond exploring the artistic value of ukiyo-e. It features venue-original content in which ukiyo-e depicting Nobunaga and ukai (cormorant fishing) spring into motion, along with an exhibit that explains Gifu's ukiyo-e in an easy-to-understand way. It is a limited-time immersive exhibition where masterpieces that have captivated the world across the ages move dynamically.
