Kyoto-based fabric specialist Nomura Tailor has collaborated with traditional Kyoto pickle maker Nishiri to create an original textile collection featuring Kyoto pickle motifs. The collaboration fabrics will be available at Nomura Tailor stores and online from January 11, 2026.
Expressing Kyoto Pickle Culture Through Fabric
The collaboration introduces two distinctive fabric designs: one featuring illustrated pickles with product names, and another showcasing Nishiri's signature packaging designs. Printed on everyday cotton sheeting fabric, these textiles blend playfulness with Kyoto's cultural heritage, making them ideal for crafting enthusiasts as well as those seeking unique Kyoto souvenirs and gifts.
To celebrate the launch, a hands-on workshop will be held at Nishiri Gion Store on February 7, 2026, where participants can create their own items using the collaboration fabrics.
Bringing Kyoto Closer to Daily Life
Both Nomura Tailor and Nishiri have been crafting their respective products in Kyoto for generations. Though working in different fields—textiles and food—the two companies share a common vision: to bring Kyoto's culture closer to people's everyday lives. By expressing traditional pickle culture through fabric, this collaboration aims to help people of all ages discover Kyoto's charm and the joy of crafting.
