Okamedo's "Anmitsu Bar® Apple Fair" Offers All-You-Can-Eat Anmitsu and Apple Pie in Toyohashi From October 26

Okamedo (お亀堂), a long-established Japanese confectionery shop founded in 1950 and based in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture, is holding the "Anmitsu Bar® Apple Fair" (あんみつバー® りんごフェア), a 60-minute all-you-can-eat event, at its Fujisawa store for 14 days from Monday, October 26 to Sunday, November 8, 2026. The price is 1,580 yen for adults, 980 yen for elementary school students and younger, and free for children under 3 (all tax included).

At the Anmitsu Bar®, guests freely assemble agar jelly, three-color shiratama (rice flour dumplings), homemade sweet red bean paste, ice cream, and more into their own "My Anmitsu." This popular event returns for a limited time as an autumn apple fair. In addition to syrup-preserved apples and apple filling, Okamedo's renewed "apple pie" is also all-you-can-eat.

Guests can also make "Apple Yaki Anmaki" (りんご焼きあんまき): the chewy wrappers of the shop's signature product, "anmaki," are warmed in a toaster and used to wrap apples and sweet red bean paste. From cold anmitsu to warm apple pie, the 60 minutes are built around combining items and enjoying autumn flavors.

Build Your Own Autumn "My Anmitsu" With Apples

The Anmitsu Bar® is a 60-minute all-you-can-eat event in which guests choose from a lineup of sweets and build their own anmitsu.

Beyond the classic combination of sweet red bean paste, shiratama, agar jelly, and black syrup, the combinations and the way each bowl is arranged are entirely up to the guest. Some may pile on shiratama, make ice cream the star, or heap on the fruit, and the anmaki wrapper can also be used to wrap red bean paste and ice cream.

For this fair, autumn-style options are also prepared: syrup-preserved apples, apple filling, cinnamon powder, and caramel sauce. The texture and sweet-tart flavor of the apples add a new twist to the usual anmitsu.

Apple toppings: syrup-preserved apples, apple filling, cinnamon powder, and caramel sauce

The suggested approach is to make the first bowl a classic and the second bowl one that stars apples. Over 60 minutes of making, eating, and making again, guests can look for their favorite "My Anmitsu."

Apple Pie and Anmaki Wrappers Are All-You-Can-Eat Too

The highlights of this fair are Okamedo's renewed "apple pie" and the chewy wrappers of its signature product, "anmaki," both of which are all-you-can-eat.

The apple pie can be eaten as is, and warming it in a toaster gives it a freshly baked taste. Guests can also add cold ice cream, sprinkle on cinnamon, or drizzle on caramel sauce to finish it to their liking.

Apple-filled pastries

For the anmaki wrappers, the recommended use is "Apple Yaki Anmaki," in which sweet red bean paste is sandwiched in the wrapper. After warming the wrapper, guests fill it with ingredients and, if they like, add ice cream or cinnamon to make an original autumn sweet.

Handcrafted Foundations Behind the Free-Form Creations

The Anmitsu Bar® is built on individual ingredients such as agar jelly, sweet red bean paste, shiratama, and black syrup. So that guests can arrange their bowls freely, the base flavors are prepared with care.

  • Agar jelly: Kyoto thread agar (itokanten). Carefully dissolved by boiling in the store and then set, giving a smooth texture.
  • Sweet red bean paste: made with Hokkaido Tokachi azuki beans. Simmered in-house to bring out the flavor of the azuki beans.
  • Shiratama: three-color shiratama made by hand in the store. Available in white, matcha, and strawberry, offering colorful looks and a chewy texture.
  • Black syrup: homemade kuromitsu made with Okinawan brown sugar. The brown sugar is carefully simmered down for a rich taste.

A wide range of other toppings is also available, including ice cream, fruit, kinako (roasted soybean flour), and sweet potato chips.

60 Minutes for Kids and Adults to Enjoy Their Own Tastes

Whether someone loves red bean paste, fruit, or plenty of ice cream, everyone at the same table can enjoy their own favorites at the Anmitsu Bar®.

Guests can build bowls together with children, show friends their arrangements, or look for a favorite combination as a family. The event is positioned as a sweets experience for Halloween and autumn outings, where the time spent making the dessert becomes a memory too.
