A new 21cm size of "Oseiron," a cooking vessel from livareit Co., Ltd. that combines an Arita ware clay pot with a natural cedar steamer, went on sale in late August 2026.
"Oseiron" was first offered in a 15cm size through a crowdfunding campaign on Makuake, and this new version adjusts the size for general retail.
Behind the Design: Lowering the Barrier to Trying Steamer Cooking
Interest in steamer cooking is widespread, but many people hold off on buying a steamer because they aren't sure which one to choose, need to gather several tools such as pots and steaming racks, or want to avoid the extra dishes and storage space it requires.
"Oseiron" was developed to lower this barrier to getting started.
The original 15cm "Oseiron," funded through Makuake, surpassed ¥10,000,000 in pledges within its first month and became a hit product, though even then many people asked for a slightly larger size.
Responding to that feedback led to the development of the new 21cm "Oseiron."
Features: Minimal to Buy, Maximum to Do
"Oseiron" is a simple cooking tool made up of just an Arita ware clay pot and a steamer.
It can be used for steaming, boiling, and cooking rice in one vessel, and the steamer can be removed so the clay pot can be used on its own, making it practical to use even on days when steaming isn't on the menu.
The clay pot is made from an original clay blend fired at temperatures above 1,300°C. The steamer uses natural cedar supplied by Kanda Co., Ltd., a company with a major share of the Chinese cookware market, reflecting close attention to both material selection and manufacturing know-how.
New Option: A Lid for the Clay Pot
A ceramic lid made specifically for the clay pot, which wasn't offered during the Makuake pre-sale, is now available as an option for the first time.
With the steamer removed, the clay pot can now be used more easily as a lidded pot on its own, expanding its everyday uses.
The color lineup is black only.
