Pokémon's 30th anniversary lands on a fitting theme this year: sleep. Marking both that milestone and the third anniversary of the sleep-tracking app Pokémon Sleep, The Pokémon Company has teamed up with NOT A HOTEL to launch a campaign giving fans the chance to stay inside a Poké Ball — and to make it real, they've built an actual Poké Ball-shaped hotel in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, for a limited time.
A Real Poké Ball Hotel Rises Beside a Hokkaido Lake
Standing at the water's edge is a 3-meter-diameter, Poké Ball-shaped hotel. Open the door and spend the night inside, and the space feels like stepping straight into the world of Pokémon.
Turning a Childhood Dream Into Reality
Many people have imagined, at least once, what it would be like to climb inside a Poké Ball. That fantasy has now taken shape as a place people can actually stay overnight, built with the architecture and technology NOT A HOTEL has developed for its properties.
Designed as a 3-meter sphere, the hotel's interior serves as a bedroom for an overnight stay, complete with a circular bed, air conditioning, lighting, and everything needed for a comfortable night. Part of the sphere is fitted with a large curved acrylic window, so guests lying in bed can take in Hokkaido's expansive natural scenery just outside.
The adjoining bathroom area carries its own playful touch, with tiling inspired by Snorlax's coloring.
Every Detail Built to Match the Poké Ball's Design
From the molded 3-meter acrylic hemisphere to the circular bed space and a sliding door that closes flush against the curved wall, each detail has been engineered with precision to faithfully express the Poké Ball's world.
The circular mattress, shaped to match the sphere, is a custom-made NELL mattress built for a premium night's sleep — packed with 2,350 pocket coils inside to support the body smoothly. Together with carefully tuned air conditioning and lighting, the compact space is designed to deliver a genuinely comfortable stay.
Choose a Favorite Pokémon to Sleep Beside
An original system developed by NOT A HOTEL's smart home team is built into the room. Guests select a favorite Pokémon on a tablet installed inside, and when the lights go out, a lighting display tied to that Pokémon fills the space.
Step inside the Poké Ball-shaped hotel, pick a favorite Pokémon, and drift off to sleep — it's a way to experience the world of Pokémon Sleep in person, inside the hotel itself.

Enter to Win a Stay Inside the Poké Ball
Alongside the hotel's debut, The Pokémon Company is running a campaign that gives fans a chance to win a stay inside it.
Grand Prize Is a Stay, Runner-Up Prize Is an In-Game Item
To enter, follow the official Pokémon Sleep account on X (formerly Twitter) and post using the hashtag "#泊まれるモンスターボール" together with "@PokemonSleepApp."
Ten pairs (20 people total) will be selected by lottery to win a one-night, two-day stay at the Poké Ball-shaped hotel. Everyone who enters will also receive a serial code for an in-game item usable in the Pokémon Sleep app.
Campaign Notes
- This stay is a special program reserved for campaign winners.
- Travel costs to and from Hokkaido are the winner's own responsibility.
- The one-night, two-day stay takes place on a date the winner selects within the window of Thursday, October 8 to Sunday, October 18, 2026 (planned).
- The hotel is not open to the public. Only winners and related parties may enter the grounds — visits for viewing or photography are strictly declined. To keep the surrounding area safe and avoid disturbing neighbors, anyone other than winners is asked not to visit the site.
Notes for Your Stay
- The nearest airport is New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido.
- Up to 2 guests may stay per booking — the winner plus one companion. One additional preschool-age child may join if accompanied by a guardian. Solo stays are also possible.
- Baby cots are not available, and the Poké Ball-shaped hotel is not barrier-free. The path to the room also passes through natural terrain, so guests are asked to decide whether to take part based on their own and their companions' circumstances.
