RYUBO FOOD HALL, located in Palette Kumoji in central Naha, Okinawa, is launching a new live music series called "Friday Classic Night" in collaboration with the Ryukyu Symphony Orchestra. The series begins in April 2026 as part of Palette Kumoji's 35th anniversary celebrations.
From FRIDAY JAZZ NIGHT to Friday Classic Night
Since January 2026, RYUBO FOOD HALL has been hosting FRIDAY JAZZ NIGHT on alternating Fridays — a live jazz series held within the food hall's vibrant dining environment. With seven restaurants, craft beer, and wine on offer, the evenings quickly filled up and established themselves as a new nighttime highlight in Naha.
The Ryukyu Symphony Orchestra, which has long worked toward building a professional orchestra rooted in Okinawa, took note of the initiative and agreed to collaborate. Friday Classic Night is the result of that partnership, bringing chamber ensemble performances to the food hall as part of the 35th-anniversary festivities.
Free Admission, Open to All
Admission to Friday Classic Night is free. Guests can enjoy live ensemble performances while dining at the food hall's restaurants. The program covers a wide range of music, from classical masterpieces to familiar pop tunes and film scores.
About the Ryukyu Symphony Orchestra

The Ryukyu Symphony Orchestra held its inaugural concert in March 2001 with the mission of nurturing a professional orchestra in Okinawa. In addition to regular subscription concerts, the orchestra performs at school music appreciation events, concerts for infants, collaborations with Ryukyuan performing arts, and island tours across Okinawa Prefecture. Conductor Naoto Otomo became music director in 2016. In 2017, the orchestra performed the orchestral accompaniment for a nationally co-produced production of Puccini's opera Tosca. In June 2022, the ensemble held special concerts in Tokyo and Osaka to mark the 50th anniversary of Okinawa's reversion to Japan. The orchestra has released two albums — 琉球交響楽団 (2005) and 沖縄交響歳時記 (2020) — and is a recipient of the 19th Miyara Chōhō Music Prize.
