Sapporo TV Tower Offers Free Observation Deck Entry for Elementary School Students During Golden Week, Plus a Stair Climbing Challenge

During Golden Week, Sapporo TV Tower is running a free admission campaign for elementary school students at its 90m observation deck. Visitors can enjoy a view that is unique to this time of year — the fresh green of Odori Park set against mountains still dusted with snow.

A stair-climbing event is also being held over the same period, where participants walk up all 456 steps from the 1st floor to the 90m observation deck. Elementary school students who complete the climb can take on a giant Garapon lottery as a special reward.

Elementary School Students Observation Deck Free Admission

  • Period: Wednesday, April 29, 2026 (public holiday) – Wednesday, May 6, 2026 (public holiday)
  • Hours: 9:00 AM–10:00 PM (last admission 9:50 PM)
  • Admission: Elementary school students free ※Accompanying visitors are charged regular admission.
  • How to use: Declare at the time of ticket purchase and present age verification.

Stair Climbing Event

Outdoor staircase at Sapporo TV Tower

  • Period: Saturday, April 25; Sunday, April 26; Wednesday, April 29 (public holiday); Saturday, May 2 – Wednesday, May 6 (public holiday)
  • Hours: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM
  • Admission: Adults ¥600 / Elementary and junior high school students ¥300
    • ※From Wednesday, April 29 to Wednesday, May 6, elementary school students are free.
  • Reception: Dedicated stair-climbing reception on the 1st floor outdoors
  • Reward: Elementary school children and younger who complete the climb will receive a "Certificate of Achievement" at the observation deck. Presenting it at the 1st floor reception desk grants one chance to spin the giant Garapon.
    • ※The giant Garapon is approximately 3 times normal size — 135cm tall.
    • ※The event may be cancelled in the event of rain or strong winds.
