SHIBUYA STREAM HOTEL (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; General Manager: Shinichi Yoshida) is introducing "STREAM Afternoon Tea: Halloween Party" at its Bar & Dining "TORRENT," available from Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Shibuya comes alive every Halloween season, with costumed crowds filling the streets. This year, alongside heading out in costume, visitors can bring the holiday indoors too, with a "Halloween Party" themed afternoon tea built around motifs like bats, skulls, and eyeballs rendered in vivid purple, pink, and yellow for a look that is equal parts elegant and eerie. Gather around TORRENT's tea stand this October for a grown-up Halloween party.
Top Tier: Playful and Slightly Eerie Petit Fours
The top tier of the stand is lined with a colorful cast of Halloween party sweets. Highlights include a citrus-flavored jelly shaped like a jack-o'-lantern, a "Cursed Berry Tart" topped with framboise and blueberry, a canelé with a ghostly white chocolate eyeball peeking out from inside, and a cassis macaron topped with a bakeneko (ghost cat) racing across its surface. A "Pumpkin Vampire" sandwiches pumpkin mousse between bamboo charcoal cookies, while a fluffy "Magic Cotton Candy," inspired by a witch's failed experiment, is paired with a chocolate tart for a dessert that is as fun to look at as it is to eat.

Middle Tier: Dark Looks, Bold Flavors
The savory selection leans just as dark. Bamboo charcoal bread, shaped to resemble a coffin, is filled with salmon for the "Coffin Salmon Sandwich." A cake salé balances the gentle sweetness of pumpkin with the richness of cheese, while a jet-black squid ink pasta salad is tossed with small shrimp. Despite their moody appearance, each bite delivers its own distinct flavor — from the salmon's umami to the pumpkin's sweetness and the cheese's depth.

Bottom Tier: Two Scones With a Witch's Potion
The scone tier pairs the classic Guérande salt scone with a seasonal cinnamon sugar scone, warmly spiced with cinnamon. Both come with a generous helping of a deep red mixed berry sauce, made to resemble a witch's secret potion, alongside clotted cream.

Savory Plate: Playful Frights
A round of unsettling dishes rounds out the party. A chilled soup made with beets evokes dripping blood, while a "brain" made from blue cheese wrapped in purple sweet potato takes the shape of a Mont Blanc. A temari sushi ball wraps black rice in prosciutto to resemble a bloodshot eyeball staring back at diners, and a croquette made from lotus root and pumpkin is shaped like a skull. A finger pie, made with coarse-ground sausage shaped like a finger, rounds out a lineup of five suitably unsettling dishes, as if inviting guests into the demon world.

Welcome Drink: A Toast to Start the Party
The party begins with a welcome drink in a deep, eye-catching shade of purple. "Midnight Violet," a non-alcoholic drink, blends the rich sweetness and aroma of grape with soda for a refreshing finish, layering fruity cassis and grape notes with the sparkle of carbonation.

Drinks: 8 Types of TWG Tea and Coffee, All Unlimited
The afternoon tea comes with unlimited drinks, including 8 varieties of TWG Tea, the luxury tea brand from Singapore now served worldwide. Options include the fruity "Alfonso Tea," blended with mango and fragrant flowers, the bold and aromatic first-flush Darjeeling "Royal Darjeering FTGFOP1," reminiscent of ripe apricot, and the classic blend "1837 Black Tea," with lingering notes of ripe berries, anise, and caramel. Coffee, caffe latte, cappuccino, espresso, and iced coffee are also available.
