Shikanoyu Jozankei Hot Spring Hotel (3-32 Jozankeionsen-nishi, Minami-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido), one of the oldest inns in Jozankei Onsen, is launching a new sauna-focused weekday stay plan starting Monday, June 1, 2026. The plan is aimed at sauna enthusiasts who want to dedicate their entire stay to the sauna experience without being constrained by meal times.
A "Sauna First" Approach to Hot Spring Travel
What sets this plan apart is the flexibility it offers around dinner timing. Unlike standard buffet plans with fixed dining hours, guests can continue cycling through the sauna, cold bath, and outdoor relaxation area at their own pace, then head to dinner whenever they feel ready. The weekday-only pricing is kept affordable, and perks including a complimentary Oropo drink and a sauna poncho are included to enhance the experience.

The Signature Sauna and Spring Water Cold Bath
The hotel's sauna features an iki stove with a 45-second "long auto-lautering" cycle that activates every 20 minutes, creating a deliberate wave of humidity designed to promote deep perspiration. After a thorough session, guests cool down in a cold-water bath fed by clear spring water drawn from the source of the Toyohira River, with a cold-cold alternating bath option also available. An outdoor relaxation area overlooks the Jozankei valley and river, offering a natural backdrop for unwinding after the heat.
5 Hearty Sauna Meals to Choose From
After a full sauna session, the hotel's 4th-floor "Shika no SALON" offers five substantial sauna meal options. Guests choose one at their own pace:
- Leg-on Curry: A rich, aromatic curry — the go-to sauna meal classic.
- Dry Dan Dan Noodles: Topped with a generous helping of spiced ground meat, for those craving a big bowl of noodles.
- Lu Rou Fan (Braised Pork Rice): A Taiwanese-style braised pork bowl with the distinctive fragrance of star anise.
- Rich Mixed Noodles (Mazesoba): A bold combination of pork fat and garlic, for an indulgent finish.
- Rich Curry Mazesoba: Full-flavored spiced noodles for those who want an extra kick.

Perks Included with the Plan
In addition to the sauna meals, the plan comes with the following perks:
- Sauna poncho in the guest room: Keeps guests warm during outdoor relaxation, helping prolong the post-sauna feeling of calm.
- One Oropo drink per person: A rehydration staple available at "Shika no SALON" on the 4th floor.
The plan welcomes solo travelers as well as couples and groups.
