The Chitose - Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival is one of Hokkaido's representative winter celebrations, featuring large and small ice sculptures created by freezing Lake Shikotsu's crystal-clear water using sprinklers. During the day, the sculptures shine in a natural blue color known as Lake Shikotsu Blue, while at night they are illuminated with colorful lights, creating a fantastical atmosphere.
