Isetan Shinjuku Store presents the "Shinjuku Mapo Tofu Department Store 2026" from January 7 (Wednesday) at the Food Collection on the first basement floor of the main building. In its third year, the event features three first-time participants: the completely reservation-based 4000 Chinese Restaurant, Hitsujipublic supervised by a New York Michelin three-star chef, and turandot Garyu-kyo. From casual neighborhood Chinese restaurants to Michelin chef establishments, the event showcases mapo tofu specialties. Live cooking demonstrations will be held at the venue. As the cold deepens this season, visitors can enjoy diverse "numbing spicy" mapo tofu from all 9 participating restaurants at Isetan Shinjuku Store.
Reservation-Only Modern Chinese Restaurant by Chef Yoshiya Komoda

The restaurant features smooth and rich cod milt as the star of the mapo tofu. Cooked just enough to preserve the cod milt's naturally melting texture, it harmonizes with the depth of spiciness created by doubanjiang, Sichuan peppercorns, and house-made chili oil. This "winter-only luxury mapo tofu" is a special dish by Yoshiya Komoda that can only be completed with cod milt and atsuge (thick deep-fried tofu), where Sichuan techniques meet delicate Japanese ingredients.

A casual bistro serving delicious sheep dishes supervised by New York Michelin three-star chef Fumio Yonezawa, and Daisuke Takubo and Daisuke Sato, who each earned a star in Tokyo and Sapporo.
