STATE OF ESCAPE Opens First Hokkaido Pop-Up Shop at Daimaru Sapporo from July 15

Handmade bag brand STATE OF ESCAPE — born in Austria under the concept of creating "unique, edgy, and beautiful carryalls" — will open a pop-up shop at Daimaru Sapporo from July 15 (Wednesday) to July 21 (Tuesday), 2026. It is the brand's first pop-up in Hokkaido.

The lineup centers on the Escape Collection, made from the brand's signature neoprene material, alongside new colors that suit summer styling. The bags are lightweight and foldable, and their water-repellent, stain-resistant finish makes them versatile for everything from everyday use to travel. When they get dirty, they can simply be washed by hand.

Also on display is the Meridian Collection, introduced this year. Created with a different approach from neoprene, these knit bags use recycled polyester and feature updated components, reflecting the brand's attention to detail in its craftsmanship. Visitors can explore a wide range of sizes and colors suited to a variety of lifestyles.

From the popular dual-tone color range, special bags will be available for advance sale exclusively at Daimaru Sapporo, in colors inspired by a trip the designer took to Greece several years ago.

Left: Escape in Ancient Clay / Mystic Blue. Right: Flying Solo in Aegean Blue / Fable Stone

Left: Escape (Ancient Clay / Mystic Blue). Right: Flying Solo (Aegean Blue / Fable Stone).

These come in two of the brand's signature silhouettes, Escape and Flying Solo. The handles have been made slightly thicker for a design that fits a wider range of lifestyles.

The color palette draws on designer Brigitte's visit to Greece several years ago. The striking contrast between the clear waters of the Aegean Sea and the sun-drenched land forms the base — a landscape woven from blues, browns, soft greens, and dry, whitish earth tones. Warm, clay-like sand colors layer with the clear tones of pristine water, resulting in a coloring that feels natural yet full of depth.

Colors: Ancient Clay / Mystic Blue, Aegean Blue / Fable Stone

Sizes: Escape — Body: W38cm × H30cm × D24cm, Pouch: W16cm × H12cm; Flying Solo — Body: W31cm × H30cm × D15cm, Pouch: W16cm × H12cm

About STATE OF ESCAPE

STATE OF ESCAPE is a handmade bag brand started by Brigitte MacGowan and Desley Maidment in Sydney, Australia. It was born under the concept of creating unique, edgy, and beautiful carryalls. The two were captivated by neoprene — a material that is remarkably soft yet highly durable — and its possibilities. Through much trial and error, they created the brand's iconic neoprene bag, Escape. By incorporating sailing rope into its structure, they completed a lightweight, supple bag that combines functionality and design. Every collection balances practicality — foldable and washable — with a beauty that fits naturally into daily life. Its simple, refined design, unswayed by trends, has been carried on as the brand's core value.

In 2024, the brand obtained B Corp certification. It is also committed to responsible manufacturing that considers the environment and society, including the release of collections that use recycled polyester.
