This fall, Sunshine Aquarium in Ikebukuro, Tokyo is opening its doors after hours for a special nighttime exhibition centered on the "sex" of living creatures. Running from September 11 (Friday) through November 3 (Tuesday, a national holiday), 2026, the night-only event "Still More ♡ Lots of Sex Exhibit" invites visitors to explore how animals reproduce, court, and survive.
"Still More ♡ Lots of Sex Exhibit" is Sunshine Aquarium's own original series exploring the "mysteries of sex" — the strategies and adaptations creatures use to reproduce and survive. Since its debut in 2019, the series has drawn roughly 120,000 visitors across its run, and this fifth installment brings a wide range of "touch, move, and experience" displays, including brand-new interactive content and explanatory panels that reveal the deeper, lesser-known world of animal biology.
For living creatures, "sex" is nothing less than the drive to keep life going — and every species carries its own remarkable strategies for passing itself on. There was still so much left to share after the previous four installments, so the series returns for a fifth run, bringing more of the fascinating and surprising sides of these creatures that visitors haven't yet discovered.
Two years since the last installment in 2024, this edition organizes each zone around one of three themes — "Reproductive Behavior," "Courtship," and "Raising Young" — introducing the differences in reproductive behavior, courtship displays, and reproductive organs across species through a variety of exhibits paired with uniquely illustrated explanatory panels. It's a chance to learn about the sex lives of animals and discover even more of their charm.

The world of animal sexuality has been shaped through each species' struggle to survive, with countless different reproductive styles established as life has continued to be passed down to the present day. Along the way, complex factors — from the natural environment to competition with other species — have shaped this evolution, and in some species it has taken on truly distinctive forms. Compared with our own human experience of sex, some of what you'll see here may leave you wondering, "why did it turn out this way?" — but look closer, and you'll find the circumstances behind each species' own version of sex. I hope that by seeing, feeling, and learning through 「性いっぱい展」, you'll come away with a discovery that moves your heart.
