Starting May 15, 2026 (Friday), the first-ever collaboration between Sunsun Sponge and Sanrio Characters goes on general sale. Pre-order stock, which launched last month, sold out due to high demand. The lineup is available for purchase via Amazon Japan, Rakuten, and the official online store.
Exclusive Designs Only Found on Sunsun Sponge Packaging
The collaboration combines the Sunsun Sponge ethos of "bringing joy to dishwashing time" with the beloved world of Sanrio characters. Each design features a special character expression created exclusively for this collaboration — expressions not seen anywhere else.
In a playful nod to the sponge's compressed packaging, each character is shown wrapped in a "squished hug" inside a heart shape. The compact pre-expansion form of the sponge inspired this whimsical design that perfectly matches the flat packaging.
New Purple Color Joins the Lineup
Alongside classic bright colors, the collaboration introduces a new purple colorway paired with Kuromi (Normal type). The deep purple tone adds a chic accent to kitchen spaces, balancing cuteness with a touch of sophistication. All four designs retain Sunsun Sponge's signature performance — quick lathering, easy rinsing, and durability that can last over six months.
