Starting Friday, October 9, 2026, "Oolong Journey" (烏龍紀行), an event celebrating the 45th anniversary of Suntory Oolong Tea, takes place at Shibuya L Street. Even in the middle of Shibuya's Center Gai, visitors can step into an extraordinary experience that feels like wandering into a foreign country.
Suntory Oolong Tea is a long-selling brand that has been enjoyed for 45 years, ever since it launched as a canned oolong tea in 1981, both for daily hydration and as a companion to meals. Rooted in the authenticity of Chinese culture, it is popular as a drink that lets people feel "foreign culture and atmosphere" while staying in Japan.
These days, many young people do not have a passport, and traveling abroad feels somewhat distant. So this event prepares a space in the middle of Shibuya that faithfully recreates a foreign atmosphere. Visitors show the Suntory Oolong Tea handed out at the entrance to a staff member, set their smartphones to airplane mode, and step into an environment with no signal. In the alley, a steaming meat bun stall appears, and visitors can buy a meat bun from a clerk who does not speak Japanese, using gestures, and enjoy the distinctive excitement of traveling abroad. A photographer inside the venue also takes pictures of visitors on an instant camera, and visitors can take home their own "Travel Note" decorated with the stickers handed out.

What to Experience
Meat Bun Stall Where No Japanese Is Spoken
Walking down the alley, visitors come across a meat bun stall filled with steam and aroma. They buy a meat bun (paid, ¥150 each including tax) from a clerk who does not understand Japanese, sit on a chair at the stall, and enjoy it together with Suntory Oolong Tea.
Instant Photos by a Photographer
A photographer roams the venue, captures visitors in natural moments such as while eating as instant photos, and hands them over. (Limited to one per person.)
Making an Original "Travel Note"
At the souvenir stall at the end of the alley, in addition to exhibits related to oolong tea, limited-edition stickers in a choice of three types are handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. Together with the instant photo, visitors complete their own "Travel Note" and take it home as a memory of a journey full of exotic atmosphere.

- The staff inside the space serve customers in foreign languages only, and Japanese is not understood. The thrill of communicating through gestures is also part of the realistic foreign experience.
- If support in Japanese is needed, staff outside the reception area will help.
